A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) consists of a collection of wireless mobile nodes dynamically forming a temporary network without the use of any existing network infrastructure or centralized administration. In such a network, each node operates not only as a host, but also as a router, forwarding packets for other mobile nodes. The efficient data delivery in dynamic mobile ad hoc networks is one of the fundamental challenging issue now days.
The problem of delivering data packets for dynamic mobile ad hoc networks in a efficient and timely manner is challenging issues in Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). Most of the presently ad hoc routing mechanisms are affected due to moving nature of node, mostly for extensive big networks. For this issue an efficient Position-based Routing mechanisms which take advantage geographic routing and the broadcast nature of wireless medium. When a data packet is sent out, some of the neighboring nodes will serve as forwarding candidates, and take turn to forward the packet if it is not delivered by the specific best forwarder within a valid period of time. The existing traditional routing protocols are prone to node movability. The design of Position-based Routing mechanisms is based on Geographic Routing and Opportunistic Forwarding, which transfers the data packet based on the location of the destination.
