Further, dividend payout of a company is influenced by a number of factors. However, identification of important factors that affect dividend payout may help the companies in making accurate decisions in this regard. This article attempts to examine the effect of important variables namely leverage and profitability on the dividend payout of select IT companies in India. This study has selected 19 Indian IT companies as sample units who have been generating profit on a continuous basis. The study period covers from 2008-09 to 2019-20. Data for the study have been collected from the annual reports of the concerned companies. The data have been analyzed through descriptive as well as inferential statistics such as mean, standard deviation, variance, and regression analysis.
